About Erin

Erin Bush bioErin Bush is a social media editor and professional Internet user at a Northern Virginia-based technology, data and information company. She started her career during the first Internet bubble in 1999, where she worked as a web writer and wired her own cube.

She has been a writer, editor, programming director, principal product manager, director of marketing & social media, and a managing editor. She has worked on a variety of big and small brands including: Sallie Mae, Wiredscholar, GovWin.com, DigitalCity, AIM, Expressions, AOL Community and The Chronicle of the Horse.

She is a PhD student at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is majoring in American history with minors in digital history and gender, law and society.

Her research area is nineteenth century U.S., specifically around questions about gender, law and society. Her specific interests center on the psychology and diseases of women and how they affected perceptions of criminal behavior. Her other academic interests include leisure and private life, urbanization, industrial growth and the cultures of the Gilded Age, the Progressive Era, and the Jazz Age.

She received her bachelor’s degree with honors in American history and journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in American history from George Mason University.

She lives in Virginia with her husband, kids, animals and many, many books. She’s a writer and a photographer. To keep up the illusion of work-life balance, she runs.
